Recall issued for Tatra trucks over gearbox issues
Date: 30.03.2023
The recall notice affects 30 units in Australia for the lesser known Czech manufacturer.
Sole importer of TATRA trucks in Australasia, Offroad Trucks Australia, has issued a recall for multiple TATRA models.
The recall affects 30 units in Australia, relating to TATRA models T815-2, T815-7, T158-4x4, 6x6, 8x8 and 10x10.
Ranging from 2021 to 2022, the 30 TATRA trucks impacted have a manufacturing defect in the gearbox.
Offroad Trucks Australia says the issue means pins in the steering bevel gearbox can collapse, causing increased steering wheel free play or the potential loss of steering.
This could lead to the steering not performing as expecting, increasing the risk of an accident.

Offroad Trucks Australia says owners of the affected vehicles can contact their head office to book the vehicle in for rectification at an authorised repair centre, with parts and labour at no cost for repairs at an authorised centre.
The brand estimates repair time to be approximately two hours, with parts also available to be supplied to no cost with repair instruction provided.
